It is the only place that I know that you have to pay to enter the town of Pangandaran. Strange considering the place has not changed much since my last visit last year.
Pangandaran needs a petrol station inside the town (even if it is a small station) rather than having to go out of town and pay to go back into Pangandaran.
Awesome place. People are friendly.

The green canyon & waterfalls are definetely worth a visit.
The green canyon & waterfalls are definetely worth a visit. As 2 women we did felt stared at and young people shout all kind of things to you on the streets. If you are fine with that than you should go here cause apart from that it’s a really nice place!

We stayed for two full days.
We stayed for two full days. The first day we joined a tour to Green Valley and Green Canyon. This was one of the best things we did during our trip. But be aware that it will be a very active and exhausting day. The second days we used for exploring the beach area. As we were there during the weekend, there were many Indonesian tourists and it was really interesting to watch the scenery.

Pangandaran is a a great tourist place.
Pangandaran is a a great tourist place. It is always busy on the weekend. We have found our secret seafood restaurant now. The beaches are good, the people are so so friendly. We love it, that is why we keep going back time after time.
Everything is good with Pangandaran with the exception of (a) the charging of higher fees for non-indonesians to see pantai putih (b) it is difficult now (since the changing of the main street) to get a coffee or a meal on the beach and now have to drive out 5 kilometres of the main area to go to our favourite restaurant.
Our stay at Bale’ku was just fantastic. The owners were exceptionally kind and friendly, the bungalows were beautifully unique and the view was unmatched. Alongside the delicious breakfast, we ate dinner here every night and the food and service was top notch. We also can’t recommend the tour to the green valley and green canyon that Bale’ku organised for us enough - it was an amazing (if not exhausting!) full day out, and so reasonably priced. If you are planning on visiting Pangandaran, Bale’ku is absolutely the place to stay!
Absolutely gorgeous house!! We also loved the location, it is in a peaceful neighborhood and very near to the Pangandaran beach. We rented a scooter and it was an awesome experience to make little trips all around. We loved the modern feel of the house, the great design, and the view into the greenery. And the hospitality of Santi and Mark that we will never forget! We are looking forward to coming back very soon! Thanks guys :)
Mini Tiga was a great spot for a couple days in Pangandaran and to coordinate a tour to Green Valley/Green Canyon. Catherine was very helpful with information on how to get to Pangandaran. All of the staff at Mini Tiga were always ready to help and make the stay as pleasant as possible. Also did the Green Valley/Green Canyon tour with Dindin which was amazing and id recommend highly.
Dindin gives the best tours in the Pangandaran area. The accomandation is your typical homestay and I would recommend to stay in a room with airconditioning. The vibe in the shared areas is really good and the breakfast is delicious
There was nothing good about my 'stay'.
There was no one at the hotel, so I was just bothering the neighbours trying to figure out what was going on.
They didn't speak English and all I could understand was 'no applikasi'.
A cosy hotel on the inlet overlooking the sea. Rooms are simple but sufficient, the hosts friendly and helpful and the food options delicious.
A little out of town but that's its attraction.
Location is close to Cagar alam, close to west & east beaches. Close to souvenir shop as well. It has pool as well. It is easy to get food as a lot of seafood resto around the hotel.
We were able to rent a motorbike from the hotel. Which was very convenient because grab or gojek does not work on the location. It was nice to be close to the beach though
